NSC & Mythos - an artistic research collaboration between director Rolf Alme and actors Christian Hestø and Elisabeth Dahl, commenting on current events, “overwriting” the myths of Antiquity
MYTHOS 1 - Andromeda
A digital performance project about being in lock-down, created by two actors in lock-down, based on a poetic monologue-play by Rolf Alme. Created…
without a director
without a photographer
without a sound technician
without a hair and makeup artist
Just a camera, the text and the actors
This artistic research project was sparked by Rolf Alme`s play Andromeda, written during the first corona-confinement period in France 2020. The play found no stage and we, the actors, found no work. And so Alme decided to give us his text, along with total creative freedom, and we in turn decided to explore what we could create without the aid of a production team: just a camera, the text and us.
Andromeda was «staged» during the second lock-down in Oslo during the months of February, March and April 2021, fueled by feelings of isolation and numbness, by not being able to help, to act, to do…anything…
Elisabeth
In the digital play Andromeda, the dramatic events of the pandemic are explored on both a personal and global level through 21 poetic monologues, paralleled by the mythological story of Andromeda - a young woman who was sacrificed to the sea god Poseidon to abate the plague raging in ancient Thebes.
